Survey Says: Beauty Sleep is Real

Share

Most people have heard of the term beauty sleep, or beauty rest, but probably wrote it off as being a myth. To test the theory, mattress retailer Sealy decided to do a survey that examines the relationship between sleep and beauty. In this post, Mattress Mart will look at the surveys findings and what good sleep can do for your looks and your health.

The study found that those who reported feeling well-rested had a more radiant complexion, brighter eyes, fewer lines and wrinkles, clearer skin. Those who reported that they had a bad night’s sleep found themselves with dark circles around their eyes, more visible wrinkles, and splotchy complexions. Besides not looking our best, sleep deprivation can weaken our immune system, ruin our mood, and make it hard for us to think.

The importance of good, restful sleep cannot be overstated, and it goes well beyond looking better. By making the right sleeping habits a priority, you can improve or sustain your physical and mental health. When you do not get an adequate amount of sleep it negatively affects many of your body’s systems, including the digestive, immune, and central nervous systems as well as causing depression and other mental issues.

At Mattress Mart, we know how important proper sleep is to the mind and body. Making sure you have a quality mattress that is right for your and tailored to your body’s needs is one of the first steps to making sure you get a great night’s sleep. If you haven’t been getting enough sleep, it might be time to try a new mattress in Kalamazoo or Battle Creek today.
